I’m looking for a fishing reel where I can fish on the flats with then go out in the ocean and catch permit?

And moderately sized tarpon and kingfish etc. What reel should I be buying? Money is not an issue

  1. I fixed my previous answer. Thanks for clearing it up that you wanted a SPINNING REEL.

So you say money is not an issue… niiiiiiice. Here’s a short list of some saltwater spinning reels that should get the job done relatively well.

    Penn Conquer.

    Shimano Sargosa Offshore.

    Shimano Stella SW.

    Shimano Thunnus.

    Van Staal Black.

    Van Staal Silver.

    Van Staal VS Gold.

    Van Staal VSB.

    Accurate Platinum TwinSpin.

    Fin-Nor Offshore.

  2. I’d personally use a Spinning reel for longer casts while flats fishing. Penn & Shimano both make good saltwater Spinning reels. Money is not an issue? I wish I could say that. Here’s a dream reel to fish with, it’s the Penn Conquer. This is the link — http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10204606____SearchResults

I’m really not sure how big the fish are, but the 4000 or 5000 model should serve your purpose. I’ve found a few different rods that would be great. The Shimano Teramar, Falcon Coastal XG, and All-Star ASR mainly. Any of these in 7′ or 7’6 MH would be a pleasure to fish with. I’m leaning toward the Shimano Teramar 7’6 MH. You could catch fish for a lot cheaper, but you said money wasn’t an issue.

  3. Definitely the Shimano, Stella Sw!

If your “money not an issue” happens to change go with the Fin Nor OFS.

TU’s to GMB- Nice set of reels you’ve listed.
