has anyone fished from dock or shore with portable fish finder and if so, how does it work?

humminbird and a few others make a portable fish finder that works like others by identifying objects through sound waves. the ability to fish from shore comes from the transmitter thats casted by the fisherman and trolled over water surface and signals are sent to fisherman on shore who has a small reciever. has anyone used one of these devices???

Does the fishfinder carp lakes app actually work?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zeustechnocrates.fishfinder&hl=en

I would like to know if this app, known as fishfinder carp lakes is a real app that actually works. The description of the app itself even admits that its a good way to fool friends. Its $4.99 and I don’t want to waste my money on an app thats just a joke, im looking for a serious fish finder app.
Actually a real fish finder app does exist, How it works is that it uses a floating bobber to contain all the components. You tie the bobber to your line and cast it out into your fishing spot, this bobber contains electronics that send sonic waves down into the water (just like all other fish finders do) then using bluetooth it wirelessly connects to your phone and uses your phone screen to display what is under the water. The only problem is that it costs $300 for the special bobber and I’m not sure how comfortable I would feel about casting a $300 bobber out into the water. Also it wouldn’t work while your moving in your boat, making its uses strictly for when your anchored down or fishing from shore. So this is why I’m looking for a cheaper version for now.

Which work better in YOUR opinion?

Which is more efficient/effective in enticing fish, hard or soft body lipless cranks?

Thanks
EDIT

sorry again in your experience which is better at enticing fish.
No swimbaits are a lure of an entire different breed. I mean literal soft bodied lipless cranks
I replace my trebles on hard or soft lures allready equippd with them, and attatch single barb pinched hooks…

How does a fishfinder work?

I recently purchased a fish finder and I have never used one before. My only issue with understanding how to use one is that the one I have projects a two dimensional image. I have a couple questions about this.

My first question is since it only projects a 2D image, do I have to position the transducer a certain way? For example, if I point the transducer north, will it give me the reading of the lake bottom pointing directly north (directly where my transducer is pointing?

If I anchor the boat so I do not move, why does the screen still scroll?
