What is the best spinning combo for steelhead fishing?

I am looking for a good spinning rod for steelhead fishing. I don’t want a noodle rod because i will be using around ten pound test. Also, for the reel, im looking at the shimano stradic and the diawa whisker ss. The only problem with the diawa whisker is that they are not made in japan anymore. Any suggestions. Thanks

  1. I wish Fish_Steelhead was around. He could give you a definitive answer. However, here are some suggestions. Check the reviews:

(Personally, I think the Shimano, Stradic would be an excellent reel. The Whisker is nice too, but I think the Stradic edges it out.)

    Reels (other than the Stradic)

Lots of good rods out there. I think I’d want (at least) a 8′ rod- but thats a preference situation and depends on many factors like, HOW you plan to fish, WHERE you plan to fish, Etc.

Hope this helps somehow? Good luck!
