l was using a similar depth finder with a small 12v battery from a radio control truck in my kayak.
it was about 2X3X8 inches. would run it for 3 or 4 days fishing.
u can use any 12 volt motorcycle/atv battery or even one designed for a powerwheels…..
so go to ur local parts store and find they smallest battery they sell…..
** as for how long it will run the fish finder before needing recharging ….only one way to find out…..TRY IT>…..
** also could wire up a SOLAR panel recharger to the battery…..which should let u use it for weeks if needed between charges…as long as u get a water proof solar charger u could mount it on the OUTSIDE of ur kayak as long as it was on the top it would get sun light and charge battery….
** have seen this done for a trolling motor on a “sneak boat” when combined with a lawnmower battery allowed my friend to get to his fishing hole then fish for about 5 hours during which time his 2 solar chargers would recharge the battery to get him home….
