This Green Heron was having his way with this fine looking piece of seafood. In my humble opinion, of all the herons the Green Heron is #1. It is especially gratifying to catch one doing what they do best. Most herons are expert fishermen, but the Green Heron provides the most entertainment and are such fun to photograph. I was surprised to find this guy in the desert country of Arizona. After seeing his catch it is more understandable why they hang around the area in fine seafood restaurants like this one.

I followed this Great Blue Heron for over an hour as he worked the shoreline....and of course he was often in the wrong light when he made his move.
But then it happened.....he struck and I was stunned to see the results. |
